I was blinded by grace,
Este belo poema de Eric Pankey, está na revista norte-americana “Image” e merece uma boa tradução em nossa língua. Quem se habilita a fazê-la?
A prey torn from its shadow,
Entwined only to unravel.
Alive in a dead calm,
I was fire from which
Air is withheld,
A charged element.
An illegible signature,
I was that which
Otherwise serves to conceal.
An inaccessible room.
A sky divided by lightning.

Emily dickinson: Uma centena de poemas
“Tie the Strings to my Life, My Lord
279
Tie the Strings to my Life, My Lord,
Then, I am ready to go!
Just a look at the Horses—
Rapid! That will do!
Put me in on the firmest side—
So I shall never fall—
For we must ride to the Judgment—
And it’s partly, down Hill—
But never I mind the steeper—
And never I mind the Sea—
Held fast in Everlasting Race—
By my own Choice, and Thee—
Goodbye to the Life I used to live—
And the World I used to know—
And kiss the Hills, for me, just once—
Then—I am ready to go!”
——
Este poema na tradução de dona Aíla de Oliveira Gomes, ficou assim:
“Ata-me as cordas à Vida, Senhor,
Ata-me as cordas à Vida, Senhor,
Pronto, já posso partir!
Só um olhar à montaria,
Rápido! Podemos ir!
Põe-me do lado seguro
Para eu não me desprender –
Pois p’ra o Juízo rodamos
E há ladeiras a descer.
Mas não me importa o mar –
Segura, na última rota –
Escolha nossa – a encetar.
Adeus, Vida que vivi
E mundo que conheci!
Beijai por mim as colinas –
Pronto, já posso partir!
